APEX EXPO 2026: Empowering the Next Generation of Electronics Professionals
The Electronics Foundation had an incredible presence at APEX EXPO 2026, bringing together students, educators, and industry leaders for a week full of learning, connection, and inspiration. From hands-on exploration to meaningful networking, this year’s event highlighted exactly why investing in the next generation of electronics professionals matters.
Students Take Center Stage
One of the most exciting parts of this year’s APEX EXPO was the strong presence of student leaders and emerging engineers. These students didn’t just attend—they engaged, explored, and made meaningful industry connections.
Visiting Student Chapter President, Amirtha Chandrasekaran from UC Irvine, joined fellow Emerging Engineer students in exploring the EXPO show floor. Their curiosity and enthusiasm were evident as they connected with exhibitors, discovered new technologies, and gained insight into real-world applications of their studies.
From Students to Industry Leaders
A powerful theme throughout the event was the long-term impact of student involvement in the Electronics Foundation.
We were especially proud to see past student chapter presidents from Auburn University—now thriving professionals in the industry and PhD graduates—return to APEX EXPO. Their journeys are a testament to the value of staying engaged, taking advantage of opportunities, and maintaining connections beyond graduation.
They embody what’s possible when students fully invest in their growth and community.
Celebrating Student Excellence
APEX EXPO also gave us the opportunity to celebrate outstanding student achievement.
Congratulations to Harshil Goyal of Auburn University, recipient of the Best Student Poster Award for:
“Reliability Assessment of Electronic Packages Under 10K–400K Thermal Cycling Using a Custom Cryostat.”
In addition to this impressive academic accomplishment, Harshil serves as a Student Chapter President—further demonstrating the leadership and dedication we strive to foster.
Recognizing Excellence in Research
APEX EXPO also provided an opportunity to highlight outstanding student research making an impact on the future of electronics.
We are pleased to recognize Dorottya Varga of Robert Bosch GmbH (Budapest, Hungary) as the recipient of the Winning Student Technical Paper.
Her research, “Connecting Microstructural Damage to Electrical Performance in Lead Free Solder Joints,” offers valuable insight into the relationship between material behavior and electronic performance. This work contributes to ongoing advancements in reliability and the continued development of lead-free technologies within the industry.
Congratulations to Dorottya on this significant achievement and meaningful contribution to the field.
Passing the Torch: Student Leadership in Action
Leadership development continues to be a cornerstone of the Electronics Foundation mission.
We were excited to introduce our 2026 Student Board Liaison, Aubrey Smith from the University of Georgia. During APEX EXPO, Aubrey connected with past liaisons, including Emily Daley (Michigan Tech) and Waad Tarman (Auburn University), symbolizing the continuation of strong student leadership within our community.
Building Connections That Last
Beyond the sessions and exhibits, APEX EXPO is about relationships—connecting students with peers, mentors, and industry professionals who can shape their future.
Whether it was walking the show floor, engaging in conversations with industry leaders, or reconnecting with alumni, students experienced firsthand the power of community within the electronics industry.
